Seeking to hire a Production/Process Engineer for a direct hire role in University Park, IL. The Process Engineer supports Operations through troubleshooting, process optimization, data analysis, and solutions for improvement. The Process Engineer evaluates existing processes and configures manufacturing systems to reduce costs, improve sustainability, and develop best practices within the production process. The Process Engineer can initiate and implement small capital projects as assigned which includes process design and simulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversees and assesses existing processes and workflows.
- Optimizes productivity by designing, implementing, and testing new procedures.
- Assembles reports to document process status and changes.
- Tracks metrics to discover areas for improvement and monitor upgrades.
- Develops innovative solutions, enhances, and implements systems that increase efficiency and optimize all phases of service or production processes, from design to manufacturing.
- Help design processes and equipment related to the development and commercialization of products or services that are cost-effective and within the project budget.
- Recommends changes or upgrades to equipment, work methods, or other aspects of the process to improve efficiency and utilization of resources including labor, energy, and raw materials.
- Conducts tests on systems for efficiency and accuracy until a quality and cost-effective production process is implemented successfully.
- Assesses safety requirements and ensures that these are integrated into the process; maintains reliable and safe manufacturing systems while improving production rates, efficiencies, yields, costs, and changeovers.
- Improves process capability and production volume while maintaining and improving quality standards.
- Collects production data and applies standard scientific and statistical methods to analyze, document, and diagram production processes.
- Identifies process bottlenecks and devises solutions to resolve them.
- Leads or participates in incident investigations and advises on corrective actions.
- Supports small capital projects via a Direct PM role or via coordination of outside engineering/construction firm(s).
- Participates in PHA’s as needed.
- Works with Operations to update SOPs as required.
Position Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
- Minimum 3 years of plant operation experience in either a batch or continuous environment.
- Proven leadership skills and ability to influence at a local level and across a broad organization.
- Knowledge of industry standards and practices.
- Strong communication skills, interpersonal skills, and ability to build relationships.
